Lately Ryan and I have been so sick and tired of hearing the kids whine about new things that they want. "I want a new DS, I want a better ipod touch, I want a new wii game, trampoline, shoes, swim suit, kitchen sink, you name it they want it! It is starting to feel like they take everything for granted and think that money grows trees....It's very frustrating. So, we decided that we would do a Family Home Evening lesson on gratitude. We talked about the bible story of the ten lepers and they seemed to take that in; then we made a gratitude poster. I wanted them to think about the things that they were grateful for and make a list on the poster...one thing every day. We definitely slacked a little, and the things they wrote down were kind of funny. Gratitude is definitely something that we will still be learning about. I'm a little sad that my kids are so old and really don't understand the concept, but its better late than never, right? Here is what my kids are thankful for:
Rylee:
Books
Tv's
Animals
Technology
A Dad that's good at pulling out teeth
trampolines, swing sets, etc
Family
Toaster waffles
Birthdays
Money

Teeth
That we're omnivores

I loved your whole blog!!! What a great thing to do; to make a gratitude list. Every night, before I go to bed, I list 5 things I'm grateful for and I wish I could say I'm grateful for Twinkies, but alas, got to watch the waistline (grow bigger). You and Ryan are such great parents and Rylee, Mya and Finn are 3 lucky and beautiful kids. Love you all!!!! Grandma Aleda
